Obsah předmětu
The course is taught in the 4th semester (Summer Semester). Lectures: Introduction to study of pathophysiology, general nosology, pathophysiology of terminal states Pathophysiology of inflammation, the function of acute phase proteins, SIRS Shock, types, compensation, decompensation, MODS Pathophysiology of tissue growth, aging, reactive oxygen species (ROS) Pathogenesis of pain, disorders of consciousness Pathophysiology of immune system - immunodeficiency, autoimmunity Disorders of water and electrolyte metabolism Practical lessons: Organization of lessons, safety, ethical aspects of work with laboratory animals (3R) Effect of changes in athmospheric concentration of gases and athmospheric pressure on the body Disorders of body temperature, thermoregulation, pathogenesis, signs Other etiological factors and their effect on the organism Pathophysiology of inflammation - local and general signs, effusions The role of microcirculation in pathogenesis, sanogenesis, pathophysiology of edema, barriers disorders Stress response mechanism, stress diseases in animals Pathophysiology of cell, cellular interaction disorder Principles of regulation, cause-effect relationship Disorders of metabolism, manifestation, models Pathogenesis of hypersensitivities, manifestation Disorders of acid-base balance - pathogenesis, signs Modeling of acid-base balance disorders Credit test

Pathological Physiology I is focusing on general principles of functional disorders in domestic and farm mammal species. It explains the general patterns of pathological processes and pathomechanisms of important phenomena. The models, videos, and interactive tasks are used to consolidate knowledge about important pathological mechanisms. The subject is essential for the follow-up course Pathological Physiology II.
1) theoretical knowledge The student is able/know/understands: - To describe the basic pathophysiological processes in the body at the cell and tissue level (pathophysiology of cell and cell cycle, interactions of altered cells and immune system), - To define what is the disease and its causes, describe the pathomechanism of their action and manifestations at the local and systemic level (inflammation, shock, acid-base changes balance, electrolyte balance). 2) practical skills The student is able: - To show and explain the individual changes in the cell and tissue, to describe causes and consequences of these changes. - To integrate theoretical knowledge and practical experience and can compile the pathomechanism of action on models and assign manifestations in tissue, blood, and systemic manifestations. 3) competences The student is able: - To evaluate pain and help manage it. Can describe the etiology, pathogenesis, and clinical signs of the underlying events and disorders occurring in common animal species. - To integrate theoretical knowledge and practical skills and use them in subsequent independent work (updates, upgrades).
