Learning outcomes
Students are trained in handling with reptiles, birds and small mammals. Students assist in clinical examination, sample collection, patient treatment, anaesthesia and surgery in reptiles, birds and small mammals. Students participate in exotic animal hospital duties.
1) theoretical knowledge The student is able/knows/understands to interpret the laboratory results (haematology, plasma chemistry, virology, bacteriology, mycology. The student is able to perform the RTG and ultrasonography and to interpret the results. 2) practical skills The student is able to perform clinical examination, sample collection, treatment and basic surgical procedures on reptiles, small mammals and birds. 3) competences The student is able to participate in an interview with the patient´s owner, to perform the clinical examination and make the diagnosis. The student is able to provide conservative treatment as well as surgery.
