Course content
Week 1 Introduction (Latin alphabet, single and group sound pronunciation, syllable length, stress, noun and verb categories, syntactic structure of Latin and Greek medical terminology). Nouns and adjectives: declension I (declension of nouns and adjectives, general comments on the declension of Latin nouns). Week 2 Nouns and adjectives: declension II (declension of nouns and adjectives, general rules on declension of nouns and adjectives in neuter). I and II declension Greek nouns (declension) Week 3 Declension III nouns (declension) Week 4 Declension III Greek nouns (declension, the meaning of Greek suffixes -itis, -osis, -oma) Week 5 Adjectives III declension (declension) Comparison of adjectives (regular and irregular comparison, replacement comparison and incomplete comparison). A test Week 6 IV and V declension nouns (declension) Prepositions (an overview of Latin prepositions, prepositional phrases) Week 7 Numerals (Cardinal numerals - formation, declension, counted object phrases, ordinal, distributive and multiplied numerals, and numeral multiplying adverbs). Week 8 Verbs (3rd person sg. and pl. verb conjugation in indicative and conjunctive of the present tense, imperative formation and the verb esse, Present active and perfect passive participle, gerundive, the most frequent verbs in prescriptions). Week 9 Word formation - Latin prefixes and suffixes (An overview and importance of important Latin prefixes and suffixes occurring in medical terminology, synonymy, antonymy and homonymy of prefixes, suffix ambiguity). A test Week 10 Word formation - Greek prefixes and suffixes (An overview and importance of important Greek prefixes and suffixes occurring in medical terminology, synonymy, antonymy and homonymy of prefixes, suffix ambiguity). Week 11 Word formation - Latin and Greek compounds, hybrid words (Latin and Greek compound structure, an overview of important Greek word forming components in medical terminology, hybrid word structure, Latin and Greek loan words, sound adaptation and orthography). Week 12 Prescription (grammar aspects of a prescription) Revision Credit testing Vocabulary is based on anatomical and clinical pathology terminology and pharmacopoeia.

Learning outcomes
Purpose of education. Obtaining the ability to use medical and pharmaceutical Latin-Greek terminology accurately and correctly in oral and written form and the basic orientation in general theoretic issues of medical and pharmaceutical terminology. Content of education : Facilitating of Latin and Greek knowledge that enables the students to master quickly and effectively semantic side of terms, their grammatical form and structure of word formation. Purpose of education. Obtaining the ability to use medical and pharmaceutical Latin-Greek terminology accurately and correctly in oral and written form and the basic orientation in general theoretic issues of medical and pharmaceutical terminology. Content of education : Facilitating of Latin and Greek knowledge that enables the students to master quickly and effectively semantic side of terms, their grammatical form and structure of word formation.
