Lecture topics: Surgical antisepsis and asepsis, sterilization, preparation for surgery; Preparing the patient for surgery, general anaesthesiology; Local anaesthesia, inhalation anaesthesia; anaesthetic complications, patient monitoring; Canine and feline anaesthesiology; Equine anaesthesiology; Large animal anaesthesiology; Anaesthesiology of birds, reptiles, small and exotic mammals; Approach to the emergency patient; Monitoring of the emergency patient; Shock, SIRS; Wounds - classification, healing and treatment; Wounds - principles of reconstructive surgery; Surgical infections - surgical wound infection, abscess, phlegmon Practical classes topics: Immobilization administering injections to small animals; Immobilization administering injections to large animals; Small animal bandaging techniques; Large animal bandaging techniques; Knot-tying techniques, types of knots, suturing of skin - stitches, materials, tools, preparation of the surgeon; Suturing of skin, tension suture; Suturing of the subcutis, tendons, fascia, muscles and joint capsule; Suturing of serous organs; Regional anaesthesia in large animals; Basic principles of infusion therapy, transfusion; Intensive Care Unit; Anaesthesiology; Sterilization, preparation of surgical instrumentation, preparation of the operating theatre environment

The seventh semester is dedicated to asepsis, antisepsis and sterilization, anaesthesiology of pocket pets, small and large animals, treatment for emergency patients, wound surgery and surgical infections. In practical classes, students improve in injection and immobilization techniques in small and large animals, in bandaging techniques in small and large animals, in tissue suturing, in the treatment for emergency patients, in the anaesthesia of small and large animals and in emergency patient care.
Theoretical knowledge The student knows the pharmacology of anesthetics and the principles of local, injection and inhalation anesthesia. The student knows the principles of wound care and solving complications of wound healing. Student. He knows the basics of urgent patient care, and the principles of asepsis and antisepsis. Practical skills The student is able to apply drugs to small and large animals. The student is able to apply a cover and fixation bandage. The student is able to suture the skin, subcutaneous tissue, tendons, fascia, joint capsule and serous organs. The student can anesthetize a dog and a cat. The student is able to take care of an urgent patient. The student is able to perform asepsis, disinfection and sterilization. Competence The student is competent to perform anesthesia of the animal independently. The student is competent to examine and treat an urgent patient. The student is competent to treat the wound, including the application of a bandage and suture.

Requirements for the award of credits - meeting qualification requirements and demonstrating practical skills Examination requirements - a written test (30 questions), a practical skills test (1 question) and an oral presentation of theoretical knowledge (2 questions - anaesthesiology and emergency care, surgery)
