Lectures: Bone diseases; Bone fractures; Open fractures, fracture-healing complications, muscle and tendon diseases Joint disease developmental anomalies; Joint diseases - traumas; CCL rupture and meniscus lesions; Dentistry in small animals

Learning outcomes
The ninth semester is dedicated to small animal orthopedics - bone and joint diseases and small animal dentistry. In practical exercises, students improve in the diagnosis of lameness, surgical approaches to bones and joints, in special fixation bandages, in the treatment of rupture of knee ligaments, in osteosynthesis, in amputations of limbs, in emergency procedures, in the treatment of pathology of the ears and oral cavity, and in ophthalmological diagnostics.
1) Theoretical knowledge The student knows the principles of fracture treatment and joint pathology. The student knows the pathology of the oral cavity and the principles of therapy. 2) Practical skills The student can diagnose lameness in a dog and a cat. The student knows surgical access to bones and joints in small animals. The student can solve LCC rupture, master the principles of osteosynthesis and limb amputation. The student can perform joint puncture and bone biopsy. The student can attach a special fixation bandage. The student can diagnose eye diseases of small animals. The student is able to perform basic surgical operations performed on an emergency patient. The student can perform ablation and resection of the ear canal and treat othematoma; The student can treat basic pathologies in the oral cavity of small animals. 3) Competence The student is able to independently perform basic orthopedic procedures on small animals, diagnose eye diseases and perform basic surgical operations on an emergency patient. The student is able to diagnose common diseases in the oral cavity and carry out their treatment.
