Lectures 1) Cell - structure and function of the cytoplasmic membrane, cellular organelles, cytoskeleton and nucleus 2) Classification of tissues, epithelial structure, classification and epithelial cell function. Connective tissues - structure and function, cartilage, bone and fat tissue. 3) Muscle tissue - structure and function, cardiovascular system, heart and vessel structure, lymphatic system 4) Respiratory system - nasal cavity, nasopharynx, pharynx, trachea, bronchi, lungs, avian respiratory system 5) Gastrointestinal system - oral cavity, teeth, tongue, salivary glands, pharynx, oesophagus, stomach 6) Gastrointestinal system - small and large intestine, gastrointestinal system in ruminants, gastrointestinal system in birds 7) Urinary system - structure, function, differences in reptiles and birds, kidney, nephron (structure and function) 8) Genital system - male and female structure and function 9) Immune system - basic components and function 10) Endocrine system - hypothalamo-hypophysis system, adrenals, pancreas, thyroid gland, parathyroid bodies, epiphysis 11) Nervous system - neuronal structure, synapsis, CNS and PNS (division and function) 12) Skin and adnexa - structure and function 13) Sensory organs - structure and function Practicals 1) Histology techniques 2) Histology practicals - microscopic structure of tissues and organs 3) Blood - erythrocytes, leukocytes, hemocoagulation, blood smears 4) Musculoskelatal apparatus - skeleton, joints, muscles 5) Dissection of a mammal 6) Dissection of a bird 7) Credit-awarding

The subject is aimed at education of bachelor students in anatomy and histology of domestic animals, in particular, as well as comparative anatomy of main taxonomic groups of vertebrates. Stress is put on understanding the causes and relations in the formation and structure of individual organs and organ systems.
