Lectures: 1. Most common abdominal surgery in foals (patent urachus, omphalofphlebitis, inquinal and umbilical hernia, urinary blader rupture). 2. Eye surgery, ERU 3. Hoof capsule diseases 4. Orthopedy (autopodium) 5. Orthopedy upper limb parts 6. Developmental defects of limbs 7. Tendons disorders 8. Orthopedy in cattle Practicals: 1. Inhalational anaesthesia in horse 2. Intrasynovial blocks 3. Dentistry - part II 4. Head surgery 5. Lameness dg part II 6. Cloven hoof surgery 7. Colics surgery

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to acquired students with theoretical and practical knowledge of the soft tissue surgery in large animals - urogenital tract surgery, basic ophthalmologic methods, surgery of the upper airways, polytraumatic patient (stabilization, transport), regional anesthesia and dentistry.
The student is able to: o perform basic orthopaedic procedures, o assess the patient's condition, refer the patient to specialized clinics and write veterinary records, o treat patients with acute hoof injuries, o sedate a horse and prepare the patient for a surgical procedure, o perform wolf tooth extraction and manage dental diastema.

Prerequisites
|
1) theoretical knowledge The student is able/knows/understands: - basic principles of hard tissue surgery (distal limb, hoof, joints, fractures), - basic surgical procedures and fixation methods of the limbs, - basics principles of equine podiatry, - developmental disorders of the musculoskeletal system. 2) practical skills The student is able to: - perform subconjunctival drug application, - introduce NSL catheter, - perform enucleation and manage wounds of eyelids (eyelid reconstruction), - sedate and anaesthetize a horse, - perform intraarticular anaesthesia of the distal limb, - perform wolf tooth extraction and manage dental diastema, - perform basic hoof correction.
