The bachelor's thesis on the welfare of felines presents in its introduction the individual species of animals that are the subject of observation, from the point of view of zoology and welfare. At the same time, it describes the natural behavior of these animals in the wild and, consequently, the breeding method that is currently and according to the latest knowledge the most suitable for these animals. The work deals with the evaluation of developed welfare assessment protocols for selected species of animals, according to predetermined parameters, which are nutrition, environment, health and behavior. Each of these parameters was evaluated in detail according to the criteria specified in the protocol and then scored on a scale from 1 to 5, where 5 is the best and 1 is the worst. The graphs were subsequently created from these parameters. From the data analysis, the significance of the difference between welfare levels in zoos and hobby breedings was then statistically evaluated, which overall showed a highly significant difference between all zoos versus all hobby breedings. The overall level of welfare is therefore at a higher level in zoos. The significance of the difference was also demonstrated in the overall comparison between facilities engaged in lion breeding. There was a breeding facility with the best rating there among these facilities and also the one with the worst rating of all observed breeding facilities. As for the evaluation of individual groups, a highly significant difference was manifested only in the overall evaluation in the group environment. It was the group environment, where the differences in ratings were the greatest. The other evaluated differences were statistically insignificant. Differences in welfare levels between zoos and hobby breedings are thus proven.

Cílem práce je zhodnotit podmínky života a s tím související welfare vybraných kočkovitých šelem v zoologických zahradách, kde o zvířata pečují profesionální organizace, s chovem, v menších chovatelských zařízeních soukromých majitelů.
